Against the War in Iraq by Mr. Obama

Much has been stated about Barack Obama's stand on the war in Iraq during the political BS that has been going on of late. I thought it worthy of your time and mine to review exactly what he did say in 2002 ( Oct 2002) before the WAR was launched by the Bush- Cheney war mongers.

Here is a link to his entire speech on it

an excerpt from the speech below

The consequences of war are dire, the sacrifices immeasurable. We may have occasion in our lifetime to once again rise up in defense of our freedom, and pay the wages of war. But we ought not — we will not — travel down that hellish path blindly. Nor should we allow those who would march off and pay the ultimate sacrifice, who would prove the full measure of devotion with their blood, to make such an awful sacrifice in vain.

The Big Myth

The Big Myth is that the so called "surge in Iraq" has worked ???

Listen to the evening news and that is what you hear.
Listen to the talking heads on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC not to mention FOX
and that is all they are saying about the Myth of the Surge?

In an article that will appear in the March edition of Rolling Stone Mag
here is an excerpt you should read carefully!!!

The American forces responsible for overseeing "volunteer" militias like Osama's have no illusions about their loyalty. "The only reason anything works or anybody deals with us is because we give them money," says a young Army intelligence officer. The 2nd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, which patrols Osama's territory, is handing out $32 million to Iraqis in the district, including $6 million to build the towering walls that, in the words of one U.S. officer, serve only to "make Iraqis more divided than they already are."

Link to story at Rolling Stone click here

An AP article just released describes the situation after the so called SURGE has ended
in July of 2008 ( This Year) one year after Mr Bush announced the surge

The Pentagon is projecting that when the U.S. troop buildup in Iraq ends in July there will be about 8,000 more troops on the ground than when it began in January 2007, a senior general said Monday.

Remember this:

President Bush laid down the standard of success when he announced the surge more than a year ago: "If we increase our support at this crucial moment, and help the Iraqis break the current cycle of violence, we can hasten the day our troops begin coming home.

So it would appear that Mr Bush's concept of "hastening the day our Troops begin coming home is that "They won't come home at all" !!!

If this is the BUSH- McCain - Right Wing Conservatives idea of Hastening the Troops coming Home - well Nuff Said I guess ?

So far this Month (Feb 2008) 29 US Troops have died in Iraq

Each month that our Troops have to stay - More and More will die !!!

And what are those deaths for ??? McCain and Co would have you believe we are fulfilling some "mission that is Just and Good" - while really all he and others that refuse to withdraw from the Mess in Iraq are hoping to do is prolong the agony so that maybe we(the public) might forget who got us into this damn mess to begin with !

I wont forget and I would wager nobody who has a brain that works will ever forget !!

But then again - You All did re - elect GW BUSH in 2004 didn't Ya'll???

BRING THEM HOME NOW

Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan

From IVAW ( Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans Against the War ) here is s Preview of the
upcoming Project Winter Soldier.

I suggest that EVERYONE take some time to watch this Preview

Link Here to the Video http://ivaw.org/wintersoldier/video

IVAW recently organized its 4th "Active Duty" Chapter;
Deep in the heart of Texas, soldiers at Ft. Hood who recently returned from Iraq have organized our fourth Active Duty chapter. Organizing an IVAW chapter on a military base isn't easy, which is why we're proud of all our members who are organizing on bases, both active duty and local veteran members who are supporting them. We welcome our newest members back from Iraq, and into the IVAW family!

Shades of a time gone by - the same type of Resistance by active duty soldiers took place during
My WAR ( The American War in Vietnam ).

Project Winter Soldier ( current) takes its cue from the same Winter Soldier that took place back in 1971 where veterans of Vietnam testified about their experiences in that WAR.

In about 27 Days the same thing will take place in Washington DC during the current Winter Soldier project. Will the Main Stream Media actually report on this or just continue to spout the "Official Line" from the War Mongers in Washington DC that sent these troops to fight and die in a War that did Not have to be fought ? We shall see if we have eyes !

These are the Times that Try Men's Souls for sure !

Bring Them Home Now - End the War and save Our Troops Lives

Shed some light

I sent this email March 8th 2005 - as a petition to circulate and sign

where we really stand now regarding the so called "progress" in IRAQ.

Please note the Casualty Counts I included in the email then
and understand the Death Toll for our Troops in IRAQ is now
almost 4,000 and wounded GIs are over 29,000

check the current Casualties on the right at Another Wall

Iraqi Civilian Deaths are NOW commonly thought to be
ABOVE 1 Million !!!

And they call this Progress ???

Here is what Should be making the News

While Campaigns go on and Politics is being played

What should be making the evening news is below

Five US Soldiers Killed in Iraq
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/021008B.shtml
According to The Associated Press, "Iraqi police arrested 15 Shiite activists Saturday in early morning raids south of Baghdad, and five American soldiers were killed in two roadside bombings, officials said."

Leaving Iraq Will Help Economy
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/021008C.shtml
The Associated Press says, "The heck with Congress' big stimulus bill. The way to get the country out of recession - and most people think we're in one - is to get the country out of Iraq, according to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll."

Fort Carson Forcibly Removed Soldier from Mental Hospital and Deployed Him to Iraq War

Paul Sullivan, executive director of Veterans for Common Sense, was outraged. "If he's an inpatient in a hospital, they should have never taken him out. The chain of command needs to be held accountable for this. Washington needs to get involved at the Pentagon to make sure this doesn't happen again. "First, we had the planeload of wounded, injured and ill being forced back to the war zone. And now we have soldiers forcibly removed from mental hospitals. The level of outrage is off the Richter scale."
